Lakhs of Amdavadis who diligently pay their municipal taxes will soon have another easy mode of payment.Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation (AMC) is now in talks with public sector and private banks to designate counters to accept money , cheques or demand drafts for property tax payments at their branches.Talks are currently on with ICICI, Axis and IndusInd banks for this facility. Sources claim that a system is being worked out where citing the bill number, of either old or new tax bills, is enough to pay property tax at these bank’s counters. A meeting with bank officials was held on Tuesday . \u201cWe will see if there are few other banks that offers such facilities. The online payment mode is yet to gain traction among Amdavadis as most still prefer going to a civic centre to pay their taxes,\u201c says a senior AMC official.<\/div>\n
