If you are landlord squatters taking over your property could be your worst nightmare.

WHAT IS SQUATTING AND TRESPASSING?

Squatters are individuals who have no right to be on the property that is in your ownership. This could occur when the property was lying vacant or was not being guarded.  When people enter property when it is lying vacant and continue to reside there they are actually violating the laws and can be regarded as squatters who are trespassing. It could be difficult to evict such people from the property.

RESOLUTION OF THE ISSUE:

THE DO-IT-YOURSELF APPROACH

If a squatter has taken over, do not take the matter to heart. Instead, make efforts to move towards eviction using your personal resources.

You will have to somehow enter your property and see to it that the trespassers are asked to move from the promises. Also ensure that the property is safeguarded. This could be done through changing the locks and making sure that someone is guarding the property at all times.

THE COURT APPROACH

If the squatter does not respond to your efforts to remove him, then you will have to take legal action in order to eliminate the squatter.

The advantage of such an approach is that usually the squatters will leave before the court arrives. Though lengthy the court approach always pays in the end.
