After playing second fiddle to Ahmedabad in all things apolitical, Gandhinagar emerges as a true state capital in all things that matter

Real estate

With rapid growth in industry , tech and education, real estate in Gandhinagar is at an all-time high. With Ahmedabad too expanding in all directions, development in Adalaj, Chandkheda and Sabarmati is also spiralling onto Gandhinagar. What was earlier seen as a service and middle class market is now attracting some of the best developers and high-end apartments. It doesn’t hurt that the city has some of the widest planned roads and greenest open spaces across the state.

I.T.

The GIFT city is the latest addition to the hi-tech city that Gandhinagar is fast becoming. With spe cific provisions extended to the development of especially technology, Gandhinagar now hosts some of the biggest names in I.T.

Education

Gandhinagar is fast emerging as a hub of higher education in the state. With campuses of great repute covering almost all streams, it attracts a huge number of outstation students. Nirma, NIFT, DAIICT, IIT Gandhinagar, Pandit Deendayal Petroleum Uni versity, Gujarat Forensic Sciences University, Gujarat National Law University and EDI are just some the leading names.

Hotels and restaurants

While the leading names in hospitality are making a beeline for the capital city, all the popular cuisines and restaurants have already entered the market. Be it international cuisine or Gujarat’s most loved food chains, Gandhinagar residents need not wait for a trip to Ahmedabad to indulge in gastronomic delight anymore.

Culture

From tourist attractions to art and theatre, Gandhinagar boasts some spectacular things.In addition to world renowned Akshardham, there’s also Adalaj ni vav and Indroda park. The latest hangout however, is Mahatma Mandir. A temple only in name, Mahatma Mandir is actually a grand exhibitory area of the economic and industrial development of the state similar to Pragati Maidan in Delhi.
